The Upshur Recreational Center was just a short walk from my home. I loved walking, taking time to clear my head, reflecting and connecting with nature and allowing myself to be inspired by my surroundings. Throughout the pandemic, taking walks were a different experience. The energy outside was different. The emptiness of the basketball court and playground created an unusual peacefulness. Rather than thinking of the inability of anyone to play basketball, the backboard with no rim directed me to think of possibilities and all the things we can build and create when we notice something missing.
